Holly Jo reached out to me a few months ago about photographing her April wedding. When I get a new inquiry from a potential bride I like to try and set up a phone call or meeting to get to know each other, especially because I want to create a connection with the people that hire me to capture such an important moment in their life! I think it helps create a more comfortable relationship because, let's face it, sometimes people already feel awkward in front of the camera, and having a "stranger" photograph you doesn't help much. I want to get past that feeling of being a stranger to my clients, so once Holly Jo decided to book with me for her wedding day, we set up a date to photograph her and her fiancé, Spencer's, engagement photos!
When I asked Holly Jo what she envisioned for her engagement photos she described wanting some type of clean-looking white house or building and maybe somewhere close to a beach to finish the session. I immediately thought of the Coastal Arts Center in Orange Beach, Alabama. The building almost perfectly fit the description of Holly Jo's vision and, as a bonus, it was very close to Alabama Point so that we could get the beach photos she wanted!
I had already gotten a chance to get to know Holly Jo during her consultation, and we clicked so well that I knew her fiancé had to be something great too, so this session was my opportunity to get to know him- and I was right! Spencer and Holly Jo's personalities fit so well together, they had me beaming the whole time. Not only were they so naturally fun and candid together in front of the camera, but you can also tell the bond they've created together and the connection they have is very strong. I'm looking forward to their beautiful spring wedding and capturing more of these sweet moments!
